The Opportunity 

Working with my clients post-16 and adult learners through the Adult Skills Budget and National Skills Funding, you will train and assess across vocational training (skills based), academic teaching (qualifications), and where required functional skills (literacy, numeracy, and ICT). 

The key responsibilities are to: 

plan and prepare schemes of work, lessons and sessions 
teach across a range qualification types and levels, virtually and occasionally at employer sites 
research and develop new topics, courses and teaching materials, especially online resources 
teach large and small groups of learners from a range of backgrounds, abilities and ages 
monitor, assess and mark learner’s work 
maintain accurate records and monitor learners’ progress using the SkillStar system 
set and oversee examinations and liaise with assessment organisations to ensure quality standards are met 
carry out pastoral support as a tutor and mentor to learners 
conduct reviews and tutorials on a one-to-one basis with learners and together with employers 
plan additional support requirements for learners 
contribute to sector meetings to monitor, review and evaluate relevant courses 
represent my client at taster days, open days and careers events appropriate to the sector 
keep up to date with, and implement company performance and quality frameworks, policies and processes 
interview and enrol prospective learners 
liaise with other educational professionals and organisations 
carry out learner assessments in the workplace 
undertake a range of administrative tasks 
ensure you undertake the highest standards regarding teaching and assessment practice 
embed personal development, welfare and behaviour topics into sessions where appropriate 
stretch and challenge learner’s literacy and numeracy when training, assessing or marking 
deliver functional skills as required 
assist my client in ensuring its marketing efforts are up to date, appropriate and relevant 
build rapport with employers to ensure the successful delivery of training programmes 
to raise any concerns immediately to the company’s designated safeguarding officer 
create support plans for learners if they fall behind 
operate strictly within the funding and performance rules of our commissioners, including the Education and Skills Funding Agency and Ofsted 
Any other reasonable tasks as requested by the line manager 
Skills required  

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
Interpersonal skills (ability to relate to students of all ages and abilities)

GCSE Grade C / 4 or above in English and maths

Committed to ongoing CPD 
Experience required 

Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a training role 
Proven Experience of assessing or tutoring vocational qualifications 
Employability Training experience 

Level 3 teaching or training qualification (can be supplied) 
Level 3 assessing qualification (can be supplied) 
Training, coaching and mentoring experience 
Knowledge of Education and Inspection Framework and Ofsted Responsibilities 
Knowledge of vocational training industry and funding requirements 
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Teams and Class Notebook 

Up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
